The booking system is horrendous. I dont know a single student who prefers the same day booking with an 8am doll out period. The doctors are rushed and theres a HUGE disparity in care from one to the other. Without seeing one specific doctor (which could be assigned alphabetically or evenly split up in some way), I feel as though I must repeat myself and they dont understand the severity of my condition. I was experiencing nausea, pain, and vomiting due to new birth control, and one doctor told me to stay on it. The next day I was in the worst pain of my life. I went in again the following day and a different doctor told me to get off of it. Ive also had a recurring infection that the doctors will just throw antibiotics at every other week rather than helping me find the cause and a long term solution. Because I have an American phone number, they make no effort to reach me with test results or call me back when I report serious pain. The reception is often rude with a few exceptions.
Booking is just impossible. After one hour and a half we gave up, although my partner had a serious issue. Also when booking online, they call just to.say that bookings have to be on the phone. Unbelievable and sad to see what is going on, dismantling the national health servixe. It is not the persons that work there, it is an intentional act of leaving the citizens alone of making us just consumers. The way they work not to help is scaring We should write to NHS and our MSP. I have already done. This happens because we are and we feel radically isolated. And we are not.
Poor patient care, given incorrect information from staff that I could request antibiotics from the pharmacy directly without a prescription. Impossible to get an appointment. Always feel like I'm being rushed out the room during an appointment because they are so busy.
The booking system is very bad and they don't have the intention to fix it. They expect sick patients to come there early in the morning in person to book an appointment, and if the patient is lucky they will give the patient a time slot hours later (good luck waiting! I hope you can survive whatever the condition you are having without passing out while waiting or when you are making multiple trips to get back to the clinic in the late afternoon because they give you a slot 4-5 hours later). Also you can only book the appointment on the same day, so if you think you can come today and ask for an appointment for tomorrow, they will never give it to you. So be prepared when you are sick, put a tent in front of the clinic and sleep there, and 8 am sharp, get inside and ask for a time slot. Last year I was having a high fever but they told me that I cannot book by phone call and I have to come in person and book a slot in the morning (and I was 100% sure they will give me a late afternoon slot anyway). I don't know how their logic works asking someone who is very ill to walk there twice in a cold winter day. Multiple times (including today), I came there in the morning (8 - 9 am) and they told me no more slots for the day and I should make a phone call the next day after 8.30 am, and of course, usually, the next day after 8.30 am no one answering my call and by the time someone answers, no more time slots for the day. It's a shame because the doctors provide good service. When I'm lucky enough to see the doctor, they usually very helpful and very professional. Had enough horrible experiences with this one so I suggest to look for another clinic with more professional staff and better system.
Certainly a busy place, and the booking system is not ideal for every type of person/situation, but I'm really surprised to read that so many people have had a bad experience. I first registered as a patient in September 2014 and have not had a bad experience. Doctors are excellent and the reception has been fine as far as I'm concerned.
